Facebook stalker threatened to rape girl

A charity shop volunteer threatened to rape a schoolgirl and asked other children for naked photos on social media.

Ashley Bradburn was described in court as a whose goal in life was simply to be a dad.

But he made up a new persona online to become a sexual predator, stalking a woman on Facebook, threatening to rape her daughter and asking girls as young as 11 for naked pictures.

The 24-year-old, of Long Down Avenue in Stoke Gifford, pleaded guilty to putting a person in fear of violence by harassment. He also admitted three charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sending a malicious communication.

Mark Hollier, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court Bradburn created a false Facebook profile using the name Kane McJames and sent a friend request to a woman, who didn’t know him and declined.

Mr Hollier said: “He then sent a request for topless pictures. She declined to do so and it became threatening. He introduced the concept of her daughter, aged 12 at the time, saying if she didn’t send pictures her daughter would be in trouble.

Bradburn also said he wanted to meet the woman for sex, before messaging her child and telling her: “You and you mum are in trouble”.

Using his fake profile, Bradburn described the woman’s daughter as “cute and adorable”, then told her: “Knock, knock, I’ll come for you and your daughter”.

The woman reported the threats to police, the court heard.

Bradburn then approached the woman online using his real name, asking her to make ‘McJames’ a Facebook friend.

He then used the fake profile to ask for pictures of the woman’s breasts and threatened to rape her daughter.

Ultimately he admitted to the woman he and McJames were the same person.

Mr Hollier said Bradburn also approached an 11-year-old girl online and made a lewd suggestions, before claiming to be about her age and asking for topless photos.

He also asked a 15-year-old girl for topless photos and asked another girl aged 15 for pictures of her in the bath.

Both advances were reported to police, who tracked Bradburn down via his IP address.

Bradburn was also ordered to do 200 hours’ unpaid work, undergo rehabilitation and abide by an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order banning him from unsupervised contact with youngsters or unchecked internet use.

He was told to sign as a sex offender for seven years.

He declined to comment as he left court.
