Primary headteacher from Faversham downloaded more than 160k images of child abuse
A primary school headteacher who downloaded more than 160,000 child abuse images has been jailed.
Richard Williams, 48, from Faversham was arrested after Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team executed a warrant at house in Alexander Drive on November 8, 2016.
Officers had received information that indecent photos and movies had been accessed from his address and a number of laptop computers and storage devices were seized from the teacher’s home.
They were found to contain a total of 160,480 child abuse images, of which 293 were graded as the most serious of Category A, showing the rape of young children
Williams was banned from entering his former school, Chilham St Mary’s Primary School, after his arrest.
He resigned from the role after a meeting with the school’s chair of governors and the education officer for Kent County Council.
The school issued a warning to parents that none of the 97 children at the school were affected by the alleged offences.
Williams admitted making indecent images of children and was sentenced to one year in prison at Maidstone Crown Court.
