A former Radio 1 DJ has been charged as part of an investigation into alleged child sex offences linked to the Walton Hop disco during the 1960s and 1970s.
Christopher Denning, 75, from London, is accused of six sexual offences against four boys under the age of 16 during that period.
The charges relate to Operation Ravine, Surrey Police’s investigation into non-recent sexual offences connected to the Walton Hop, a teen disco which ran from 1958 until 2001 at the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse.
Mr Denning’s first court appearance will be on Thursday July 14 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Another man, aged in his 70s and from Walton, was due to answer bail in connection with the investigation on Monday (June 6) but Surrey Police said officers had been notified of his death.
