Sir Tom Jones has told how Jimmy Savile was “instrumental” in launching his pop career saying: “To me, he was a good man.”

The 75-year-old revealed that he was given “great advice” by the paedophile entertainer on how to break into the music industry when they first met.

And he said he was “shocked” when revelations emerged about Savile’s history of sexual abuse because he did not think he was “creepy” enough to be a paedophile.

‘Shocked’: Sir Tom Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live he never suspected Jimmy Savile

Speaking on Radio 5 Live, Sir Tom said: “He always liked teenage girls, as long as they were over 16, which of course is legal.

“And you would always see him around with young girls.

“When you see someone like that, you would never think he was a paedophile because of the way he handled himself.

“You always think of paedophiles as being like creepy people – well maybe to some people he did look a bit creepy – but he was a bit of a Jack The Lad with young girls.”

Sir Tom told how he had met Savile at a London hotel when he was trying to break into the music industry and did not even have a record contract.

Savile was working at Decca Records at the time and advised a young Sir Tom how to approach record companies.

The veteran entertainer added: “He promised to take (the demo) into Decca and then he said: ‘Look, it’s up to you’.

“He told me to make sure the first track was a hot one and I did Breathless.

“And from that I got a recording contract with Decca, so it was thanks to Jimmy Savile.”

But Sir Tom went on to say he ‘never saw’ anything untoward or suspicious when Savile presented BBC music show Top Of The Pops.

He continued: “For a start, you have to be over 16 to dance on Top of the Pops, so where was it going on? I was shocked when it all came out.

“To me, Jimmy Savile was a good man. But who knows?”

A British pop legend, who is being investigated over claims he raped a 14-year-old girl, is said to be living in fear after his name was circulated around the world.

The singer, who cannot be named in the UK for legal reasons, was revealed as the alleged offender on news websites in other countries.

An old picture of the complainant, now in her 50s, with the superstar also emerged online.

The singer has not been arrested, questioned or charged with any offence, but police have launched an investigation into the woman’s claims.

A source told The Sun that he was ‘petrified’ after his name circulated on the internet.

The woman says she was plied with champagne by the singer who then pinned her down and attacked her in his hotel suite in the 1970s in an ordeal that ‘affected [her] entire life’.

The alleged victim claims she was invited to the star’s hotel after being chosen from the crowd by his bodyguard.

She says she was left covered in bruises following the alleged attack which has left her struggling to have relationships with men.

The girl was attending the concert with a 13-year-old friend after being given free tickets, according to The Sun.

They are said to have hoped for the solo star’s autograph but the ‘naive’ 14-year-old was separated from her friend and taken to the performer’s hotel room.

A comedian, a female friend of the artist and a backing singer were said to have been waiting in the suite.

The star then allegedly appeared wearing a short white robe before posing for photos with the girl while putting his arm around her waist.

The woman, who is now in her 50s, told The Sun that after the star gave her multiple glasses of champagne, he pushed her down on the bed.

Police have launched an investigation into the claims and met with the woman last week, it has been reported. A spokesman for New Scotland Yard, pictured, said the allegations are 'under investigation'

Police have launched an investigation into the claims and met with the woman last week, it has been reported. A spokesman for New Scotland Yard, pictured, said the allegations are ‘under investigation’

She said: ‘His gown was off. I was wearing a jumpsuit. He zipped it down and what had started as affectionate and safe, almost, was suddenly becoming painful and forceful, not comfortable.

‘I was confused and couldn’t understand where the pain was coming from.’

She is said to have initially made the claims in 2013 to the Metropolitan Police – but because the alleged offence happened abroad it was out of the jurisdiction of detectives.

But now a new prosecutor and investigating officer have been assigned to the case despite a probe being opened and quickly dropped in August 2014.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said earlier this month: ‘This office can confirm an investigation has been conducted regarding a rape case reported during 2014. It is still under investigation.’

Twisted secret code in love letters between Moors Murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley could reveal burial site of last missing victim’s body

  • Love letters between killers Myra Hindley and Ian Brady are to remain classified
  • Ministers fear they could include secrets to the whereabouts of Keith Bennett
  • Police and Government officials say the 1965 letters contain coded messages
  • Keith Bennett is said to be the last victim of the Moors Murders in Manchester
Keith Bennett from Manchester went missing in June 1964

Keith Bennett from Manchester went missing in June 1964

Coded love letters between Myra Hindley and Ian Brady could contain clues which may lead to the discovery their last victim’s body and graphic details of his death.

Ministers involved in a new review of decided to keep the documents classified as they include secrets about the whereabouts of 11-year-old Keith Bennett who went missing in June 1964.

Politicians are also worried the families of Keith and the other victims would be traumatised if they knew what happened to their loved ones.

Earlier this year, it was revealed bullet shells matching a Smith and Wesson revolver, which Brady may have used to murder the boy, had been found on Saddleworth Moor, in greater Manchester, a spot that earned the killings the moniker the ‘Moors Murders.’

This has led to calls for a fresh search of the moor, 51 years after the pair were jailed.

Police and Government officials believe the 1965 letters between them contain coded messages which if cracked could close the case.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: ‘The body of Keith Bennett is yet to be recovered, and the police are still hopeful that one day they will be able to effect this.

Myra Hindley and her partner carried out the Moors Murders between July 1963 and October 1965

Ian Brady (left) and Myra Hindley (right) carried out the Moors Murders between July 1963 and October 1965 in what is now Greater Manchester. The victims were five children between the ages of 10 and 17 years of age

‘The information in this file potentially still retains value in assisting the police to achieve this aim.

‘Combined with new information, or re-interpreted, it could prove key in finally bringing this case to a conclusion.

‘Therefore disclosure into the public domain may risk prejudicing the opportunity to resolve the final mystery in this, one of the defining criminal cases of the last century.’

Hindley and Bradys’ murders of five children in the 1960s have been exhaustively covered over the years in books, films and documentaries.

Brady, now 79, has never revealed the resting place of his final victim Keith Bennett despite desperate appeals from his mum Winnie Johnson, who died in 2012.

Hindley’s prison records were released into the National Archives after she died aged 69 in 2002.

They include five files of letters between the wicked couple – but only two have been made public.

The couple are already known to have used at least one code they called 6-7-8 to communicate.

The code would start on the sixth line of a letter.

The seventh and eight words on alternate lines would then he used to parcel together of a sentence, a secret code.

In one, Hindley used the code to suggest Brady should get someone to attack the brother of one of their victims with acid.

Other letters contained coded messages to plan an escape from jail while on remand awaiting trial. However police managed to crack the code and were able to quash attempts when Hindley requested a jail move.

A new review was carried out following requests to open the remaining three files under the Freedom of Information Act.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: ‘One of the most notorious crimes of 20th century Britain, the story of Brady and Hindley and their victims remains a source of intense interest and speculation.

‘With Ian Brady still living and the body of one of the victims yet to be recovered, there is still public concern about the case.

‘Information that might help to explain the circumstances would not only be of interest but would help the community come to terms with a case that still causes considerable anxiety to this day.’

But following the review, Ministers have agreed the letters should remain classified until at least January 2051.

‘Whilst it is appreciated that a great deal of information about the’Moors Murders’ is already in the public domain, the level of detail in this file goes beyond what has already been made public,’ the spokesman added.

Keith's whereabout is still a mystery

‘It is considered that the release of this information would impart the risk of subjecting the surviving members of the families of victims whose bodies have been found and, just as importantly, those whose bodies have not yet been found to a totally unacceptable level of mental distress.’

Prof Tom Clark, of Sheffield University, has been examining Hindley’s prison records for his serial killer book The Sociology of Evil, due to be published next year.

He said: ‘These are all letters that Brady and Hindley wrote to each other in prison knowing they would be intercepted.

‘I would not have batted an eyelid if the request was refused on the basis Brady is not dead yet or because they mentioned someone still alive working in the prison service.

How did the Moors Murderers’ secret code work?

Hindley’s prison records were released into the National Archives after she died aged 69 in 2002.

They include five files of letters between the couple – but only two have been made public.

The couple are already known to have used at least one code they called 6-7-8 to communicate.

The code would start on the sixth line of a letter.

The seventh and eight words on alternate lines in the letter would then be used to parcel together of a sentence, a secret code.

‘But I am very surprised and intrigued by the suggestion the letters might contain information to find Keith’s body.

‘Why should they want to keep the letters kept secret when the police have not done anything for years?

‘The frustrating thing is we cannot actually see the letters so there is no way of finding out what was in them using the secret code.

‘So this seems very strange. Keith’s family are still desperate to find his body so if these letters could help they should be published to solve one of worst crimes in history.

‘These letters are mentioned a lot in Hindley’s prisoner reviews so there could be quite a lot of them, especially since she was a prolific letter writer.’

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: ‘The current status of the investigation is that it is with our Cold Case team which means it has not been closed. If new information comes to light then the Cold Case team will investigate those leads.’

Prime Suspects Kate and Gerry McCann vow to fight Gonçalo Amaral in the European Courts?

McCanns vow to fight Gonçalo Amaral in the European Courts?
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 12:39 AM PDT

McCanns exclusive interview to the BBC | Photo: Joe Giddens/PA

“It seems increasingly clear that McCann case is no longer about what happened to a little girl, but an attempt — some say cover-up — to absolve “upstanding Brits” of any responsibility, conveniently blaming Portugal, the poor man of Europe, for a botched investigation and overall ineptness.” – Chris Freind, 2013

On what is said to be an exclusive interview to be broadcast today by the BBC (for an undisclosed amount), the McCanns vow to take Gonçalo Amaral to the European Court of Human Rights, because “the last judgement is terrible”. True to their character, their blatant disregard for freedom of expression, constitutional rights and vindictiveness levelled at the former inspector of the Judiciary Police knows no bounds.

No one can forget that Kate McCann once had this to say about the former inspector: “He [Gonçalo Amaral] deserves to be miserable and feel fear.” No one can also forget that the money that was donated to fund the search for Madeleine has been used to pay for a relentless PR campaign against the former inspector, but also against the Judiciary Police, against the Portuguese institutions and authorities since 2007. That same money donated by the caring and concerned public world-wide to the search fund turned into a legal fund used to attempt to silence the former inspector, numerous newspapers in Portugal and abroad, TV channels and anyone who would dare to present, factually, a thesis that didn’t meet the McCann’s criteria – a criteria that is based on the image the couple wishes to project to the world. The fund was also used to at least once pay for the McCann’s mortgage and in detectives that were far more experienced in dealing with corporate spying, in mediocre rent-a-cops, some of which attempted to exert pressure in the PJ officers working in the case and it is alleged that some have even created fake leads and unexistent connections to dead little girls, victims without a name, only to sustain the abduction thesis, wasting police time and resources.

Unlike what the couple alleges in this BBC exclusive and has done in numerous other interviews along the years, the investigation in Portugal was archived, mainly, due to the lack of cooperation of the British authorities (ex. refusing to send financial information) and the McCanns’ friends to cooperate with the Portuguese police, when for example, the crucial step of doing a reconstruction, in situ, with the whole group was refused because “it wouldn’t have media benefits” i.e. it wouldn’t be televised. And also because even before the McCanns were constituted as arguidos by the Portuguese prosecutors there was an enormous pressure, both political and economic, on the Portuguese authorities to investigate this case solely as an abduction, sabotaging all the other hypotheses the PJ attempted to explore. The English tabloid media distortion that was echoed in the world-media, was then and is now, essentially a calculated PR game to stir nationalistic emotions, to create a xenophobic rivalry intended to belittle the Portuguese authorities and whitewash the couple, this also played a role in the investigation archival.

The fact that the PJ has lost the public opinion battle is largely the fault of their successive national directors, Justice and Public ministers, who since 2007 allowed unscrupulous PR men and hacks to exert an enormous pressure on the PJ officers, their men to be crucified in the media and did not  prevent the re-writing of the facts and events of investigation. Releasing the case files after the investigation was an unusual excellent step but was insufficient PR wise.

In essence, since the investigation was archived in Portugal the McCanns could have asked their friends, the group nicknamed Tapas seven, to come forward and take part of a police reconstruction, very needed to clarify the many contradictions in the whole group’s statements, that would also pressure the Portuguese prosecutors to reopen the investigation since the reconstruction could not take place with the investigation archived. That step and plenty other alternatives to pressure for the reopening were never used by the couple nor by their friends. Which begs the question, where are the friends of the McCann couple now, who left Praia da Luz soon after Maddie’s disappearance and whose contradictory and polemic statements were never confronted, who never helped in that crucial step that could have helped find or at least establish the truth of what happened to the little girl?

Instead what we were offered a few years later was a farcical reconstruction, a Met police/BBC co-production, in no way different from other misleading re-enactments,  that used actors, including a porn actor, filmed in a coastal village in Spain – a crimewatch that was forbidden to be broadcast in Portugal. More could be said about a police force that seemed to be working in tandem with the media, for the media, that wasted £11 million of the British tax payer’s money in nice photoshoots in the Algarve and decided from the start to exempt the McCanns and their group of friends from any suspicion. That onion it seems, was never meant to be peeled. What to say about the fact that the British ex-pat community in Praia da Luz, have never heard about the sexual predator that only targeted white English girls, oddly a Met press release that is no longer available online,  nor about the recent far-fetched and unverified tabloid story of nannies using rape-whistles in that idyllic fishing village of Luz.

Continuing with the sound-bites published today, it is also untrue the couple has “been formally cleared by the Portuguese”. The McCanns have been alleging that they have been exonerated in multiple interviews for years, via their PR people, or unnamed sources. There’s no doubt they have tried to use the legal action against Gonçalo Amaral to have some sort of an official document declaring that they were innocent, or rather not guilty, of any wrongdoings without ever being tried in a proper court. Both Lisbon Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Justice judges understood the tactical manoeuvre they were attempting and refuted their substantiations. The judges reasonings were made in accordance with the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights) and its related case law, and are very clear. It’s doubtful they’ll even meet the requirements to make an application. It should also be noted that the ECtHR cannot deal with complaints against individuals, so if the McCanns are going to sue anyone that will have to be the Portuguese state.

As to the trolls and fake news, maybe the McCann couple, their family, their unnamed sources, their PR people and also the media that had a role in it should apportion the blame of igniting the online vigilantes who have effectively caused the death of an innocent woman and for allowing, since they have never addressed this fact publicly, their followers to stalk, harass, threat anyone who dares to oppose the McCanns’ version of events.

Maddie: The Enigma, an in-depth report by CMTV
Posted: 29 Apr 2017 06:16 PM PDT

Video transcript (trailer) – Ten years after Maddie’s disappearance, Gonçalo Amaral returns to the crime scene. An exclusive documentary with new clues and unprecedented footage. Maddie: The Enigma, an in-depth report by CMTV.

José Carlos Castro (CMTV News Anchor) – Gonçalo Amaral says that there was far too much diplomacy and even servility towards the British in the Maddie Case. These statements were published in this week’s Sábado magazine, they are part of the documentary Maddie: the Enigma to be broadcast by CMTV next Monday to mark the ten years of the English child’s disappearance.

Cut to footage from the report, unknown voice over – Gonçalo Amaral has returned to Praia da Luz in the Algarve to reconstitute the steps of the disappearance of Maddie McCann. Ten years later, the former Judiciary Police inspector has no doubts whatsoever that there was too much diplomacy and servility from the Portuguese authorities towards the British. This disclosures were published in this week’s edition of Sábado magazine and are also part of the documentary Maddie: the Enigma that is going to be broadcast next Monday on CMTV.

Gonçalo Amaral, footage from the report – “The failure as I told you comes from this, it started immediately, nearly twenty-four hours later after that happened we had the (British) ambassador here and that is when the great political pressure starts. (…) It seems that we still have a certain submissiveness before the United Kingdom. (…) We sent the samples that were collected in the apartment to the English forensic laboratory when it could have been done in a Portuguese laboratory so we wouldn’t be criticized, so no one could say that we had manipulated the final results, so Portugal wouldn’t be called into question because in essence those were English authorities, those were English suspects, so we asked them to check the samples and the reality is that we were naive.”

Voice over – Gonçalo Amaral was in charge of the Maddie case however he was dismissed of the post of coordinator of the Judiciary Police of Portimão after he criticized the performance of the English police.

Gonçalo Amaral – “What should have been done at the time and wasn’t, was that the parents who were in fact responsible for the safekeeping of the child should have been suspected from the start, with what that entails and is necessary for the investigation namely the interception of telephone calls, surveillance, etc, of the parents but also of their group of friends, because we don’t know, suppose for a moment that when that group of friends go to the apartment the child was still there, we have no idea if that happened or not.”

Voice over – Gonçalo Amaral believes that Maddie’s body was placed inside the casket where the remains of a British woman were, a coffin that was cremated later. This thesis emerged (from a statement) in December 2007 after three shadowy figures were seen entering the church with a bag.

Derek Flack, from Ilford in England, was on holiday in Praia da Luz, at the same time as Madeleine.

Dereck Flack told the police:

“He observed an individual who was standing at the corner of the path watching (this being the reason he found him suspicious) in the direction of the apartment that Madeleine would later disappear from.

“He adds that near to where the individual was watching, on the other side of the road, was a parked vehicle, van type, white, with a person.”

According to the Telegraph (UK), 3 March 2010, in the Madeleine McCann case, there are more than 50 new leads.

Documents now released by the Portuguese police includes

(50 new leads ):

1. Repeated sightings of a girl who looked like Madeleine in Ghent, Kortrijk and Bruges in Belgium in November 2008.

2. Photographs from the internet discovered by a French detective showing images of sexual abuse which involved a girl looking like Madeleine.

In March 2008, intelligence received by the UK Police suggested there was an organised child abduction ring from Belgium which had Madeleine stolen to order.

(Madeleine McCann: Numerous sightings in Belgium – Telegraph)

In Belgium there have been over 100 witness reports linked to Madeleine through a hotline for missing children.

A child therapist said she was “100 per cent sure” she saw Madeleine at a restaurant in the Belgian town of Tongeren, on July 28 2007.

Freud and Madeleine.

The well connected Jewish politician Sir Clement Freud has now been publicly linked to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Freud died in 2009.

Sir Clement Freud exposed as a child abuser as police urged to probe Madeleine McCann links.

Sir Clement Freud, Sir David Frost, Sir Richard Branson.

Clement Freud is related, on his mother’s side, to Uri Geller.

Geller has been photographed with a surprisingly large number of the reported top UK child abusers.

Clarence Mitchell quit his job as director of the UK Governments Central Office of Information’s media monitoring unit to become the McCanns full time Public Relations man.

Nanny Charlotte Pennington says that Kate McCann did scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!”

This could suggest that Kate and Gerry knew about the high powered pedophile rings that supply children to the various top people that have been attracted to the Algarve.

But Kate and Gerry had assumed that these rings would not touch the children of middle class English tourists.

Or, the McCanns were friends with some dubious characters, but, had assumed that these people would not kidnap Madeleine?

David James Smith, in The Sunday Times (UK), 16 December 2007, (Kate and Gerry McCann: Beyond the smears) wrote about the Madeleine McCann case:

“I heard that a PJ officer had been surprised to find a member of MI5 at a UK meeting about the case, and this made him suspicious that shadowy forces could be at work.

“The Sol journalist Felicia Cabrita mentioned the ‘mysterious Clarence’ – Clarence Mitchell, the former government PR officer turned McCann spokesman – and I was told there was suspicion too about another government official, Sheree Dodd, who had acted as a PR officer for the McCanns briefly in the early days…”
