Happy Birthday GLO !

GLO image 3

GLO is two years old today.

‘Operation Greenlight’ was established after our attention was drawn to extensive reports of abuse at numerous care homes and institutions spanning decades. As we started to catalogue them, several survivors contacted us. With their help, we were able to locate and research more locations.

Two years ago, we’d become aware of about 200 care homes and institutions implicated in child sexual abuse. We had also identified around 25 police operations related to CSA.

At the time we were staggered that there were so many.

The scale seemed appalling, and became the motivation to establish an easy to use visual and intuitive research resource that enabled access to a wealth of publicly available information.

GLO‘ was the result.

GLO was established to try to build a clearer picture of CSA and alert others to the scale of institutional sexual abuse of children. By…

Mrs Justice Pauffley, this time it’s personal.

Matt O'Connor: Father4Justice

Seldom do I pause to answer criticism of my work, ideas or family because if I did, I would have no time left to campaign against the secrecy and cruelty of the secret family courts. However, in this instance, I am prepared to make an exception as this is a matter of both public interest and of relevance to supporters of Fathers 4 Justice who might be going through the court system.

The Honourable Mrs Justice Pauffley has recently made a judgement relating to my family. Of particular interest are the comments by the Judge made about Fathers 4 Justice. As the founder of a campaign to which I have committed a decade of my life, I feel duty bound to not only respond to those comments, but to the direct request that ‘we’ (meaning my wife and I and in turn you) give up campaigning.

I am not going…

An Oath to Hell – Sam Hill

cathy fox blog on child abuse

The book [1a] is presented as a novel but is based on Sams true life experiences. She was born in 1970s and has had experience of the mental health system in Britain.

samhillbookMarried to Gafid, an old Etonian manic depressive 19 years her senior, and living in rural Wales, Sam experience is that the mental health system is used by the powerful to cover up things as an alternative to killing people. This use of the system to cover up is an echo of Janellas book [12] as is the use of drugs – stelazine in Sams case which she says is used for Russian dissidents and teens.

The conversational style of the book belies its serious messages. The truth delivered in a aside, amongst language and a style so rich and bubbly that you can be two pages on before you realise that she dropped a bombshell, without you really…

New Cyril Smith whitewash: Police clear themselves over 1960s probe into paedophile MP

  • Lancashire Police had been accused of covering up Cyril Smith’s crimes
  • But force bosses face claims of a ‘whitewash’ after it cleared itself of blame

A police force accused of covering up Cyril Smith’s crimes faced claims of a ‘whitewash’ last night after it cleared itself of blame.

Lancashire Police chiefs declared they found ‘absolutely no evidence’ that attempts to bring the paedophile Liberal MP to justice were blocked.

The internal inquiry contradicts claims by retired detectives that key evidence was ‘locked away’ and they were silenced.

Labour MP Simon Danczuk, whose book about Smith’s sordid double life sparked the investigation, last night accused the force of a whitewash.

He said there is a ‘mountain of evidence’ that Smith was a paedophile…

‘Independent’ child abuse inquiries: A question of trust?

A Guest Blog by Chris Hobbs

The issue in relation to possible, systematic child abuse by establishment figures, has, over the last forty years, been like a bad penny which has appeared time and time again only to be buried on each occasion by a surfeit of loose change before making another unwelcome appearance.

When I was a young Met officer in the 80’s, every policeman and woman in London knew of rumours surrounding Cyril Smith and we all waited for something to happen but it never did. As is becoming apparent, Cyril Smith may well be the very large tip of a very large iceberg. The question is whether enquiries announced by the Government will succeed in their objectives or indeed whether establishment figures in the Government actually want every skeleton to be laid bare given the fact that obtaining the decision to hold any form of meaningful enquiry…
